    May is Electrical Safety Month!

24/7 Electric Inc. is Celebrating by Offering Electrical Safety Inspections… to Give You Peace of Mind that Your Home is SAFE & Sound!

    Dear Homeowner,

It’s Shane Walton, here. Your friendly Master Electrician and owner of 24/7 Electric Inc. I’m writing to remind you that it’s time to have your home’s electrical system evaluated to ensure you and your family are safe and sound. And I have some great news: if you call for a home electrical inspection in the month of May, it’s only $65! It’s our way of celebrating National Electrical Safety Month…

You know, I don’t want to alarm you, but I think it’s important you know the statistics… The Council of Canadian Fire Marshal’s and Fire commissioners, home electrical problems account for 1,092 fires, 60 injuries, 11 deaths, and $152 million in property losses. Most electrical wiring fires start in the bedroom. And stoves, ovens, dryers, central heating units, televisions, and radios are the most common culprits in electrical fires.

Want to know something else that’s scary: If your home’s smoke detectors are 10 years of age or older—they’re expired. (Yes, smoke detectors expire… Most folks don’t know that.) Like anything expired, they can’t be counted on to do their jobs IF a fire emergency occurs in your home. In fact, statistics show that expired smoke detectors often FAIL… Insurance companies will ask if the smoke detectors were current and may cause your insurance coverage to be invalid if not.

Okay, here’s the good news: Many of these electrical problems that cause fires can be identified by a highly skilled electrician when they conduct a comprehensive safety inspection, such as the one I’m offering you for only $65. During this inspection, our electrician will look for:

    • Loose service panel connections
    • Limited service panel capacity
    • Burnt busbar
    • Outdated wiring
    • No GFCI outlets
    • Current code violations
    • Dilapidated builder’s grade materials
    • Expired smoke detectors
    • Defective smoke detectors

Now, not all of these issues affect the safety of your home—you may be fine for years. However, a few may present some risk, like shock or possibly worse. That’s why I encourage people to have an inspection performed every year. So, please,l me and take advantage of this inspection: 587-315-1361…

Always keeping your safety in mind,

    Stacy Walton

P.S. I hear customers say all the time, “I just had an inspection last year. Do I really need to have one again?” My answer is this: If it was my family in that home, I would. Electricity generates heat; heat can manipulate, degrade, and fry wires and other vital components. That’s when fires occur. If you have expired smoke detectors, who’s to say you’ll know when that fire ignites? So, please, take your home’s electrical safety seriously… I’m offering a $346 inspection for $65! Take advantage of it!
